The PassW0rd radio programme is the UK’s oldest regular-hour long audio foray into the world of science and technology and not only tells you about the latest developments in the area but what those technologies mean to you.
PassW0rd, deals with the technology issues that mean most to your life, our journalists have highlighted the need for effective understanding and control of technology for over 30 years, longer than any other news organisation.
Fi’s journalists were the first to warn about the risks from cyber criminals back in 1989, and the first to call for a debate on the ramifications of technologies such as biological computing, chip-implants, Artificial Intelligence, grid-computing and VR back in 1997.

Fi’s experts warn that the Russian Government is developing sophisticated information warfare techniques in a bid to promote Russian interests. Faced by a declining economy that is currently the same size as Spain’s, Russian is falling back on cyber techniques and information warfare to punch above its weight on the world stage, why use military might to achieve regime change when you can use social media?

Should we rein AI in? Future Intelligence’s PassW0rd programme on Resonance FM asks leading authors and experts whether we should introduce curbs on AI technology and whether it represents a threat to humanity. Future Intelligence has campaigned on the issue of controls on technology since 1997 and actively promoted awareness of the issue with Professor Bill O’Riordan, the former chief scientist of ICL-Fujitsu now Fujitsu. On May 27th, 2017, the Fi Conference Artificial Intelligence – Living and working in an AI world pushed the issue centre stage. Researchers from the House of Lords AI attended our one day conference and as a result, according to Luke Hussey, Clerk to the Select Committee on AI, the House of Lords decided to produce another report AI in the UK: ready willing and able?
Fi provided detailed written evidence to the Lords report.
